Converting 1975 starcraft from I/o to ob.

I am getting a pristine/stripped 18 ft starcraft which used to have a Mercruiser I/O in it. All that's left is the transom plate. Have any of you done this converion and either cut the transom down to fit an outboard or put an outboard on a bracket. I just found this great site on a google search and think it is brilliant. Thanks to all in advance.
