Transducer mounting in aluminum boat

I am considering purchasing a Garmin 182 combo gps and depth finder. I have an aluminum boat. Will I be able to epoxy the depth finder transducer to the inside bottom of the hull, or do I have to mount it to outside of the transom??...Appreciate any advice.
