Thanks Spike. I think I will go with an 8 HP. I have read that the newer engines are rated at the prop where the old ones where rated at the flywheel. So if I buy a new 8 HP it will be like a 9+ HP older one (?). I think that will be enough for me.

Bigger boat would be too much trouble, one of the guys had a 14' 60" and it was a pain for the way we hunt. Sure was a nice boat tho, very roomy:).

I saw a boat where the guy had cut a chunk of the floatation out of the middle of the seat and put a cooler or somethin' in it. I have to admit it looked pretty clean, but, would I be risking my life (or a ticket?) for a six-pack?
