My father has a '14 aluminum mermaid v-hull. He bought it used in 1962. According to the name plate it is rated for a 35 hp motor, but it has an older (1961) 18 hp evinrude on it and will do about 20mph with 2 people and gear. I have put anolder 35 hp motor on it before and it will sit very low in the water. The seat and tramson have both been replaced twice, but it is a very reliable boat. I still do not know who manufactured the boat, but I have seen a few of them in TN and both NC and SC. Hope this helps.
