Out of Balance Boat - Help!

[Aluminum Boat and Repair Board ] [F A Q ]

I recently inherited a boat - a nice 14' aluminum,
v-hull Alumacraft with a Honda 9.9 transom-mounted
motor. With my weight and the weight of the motor,
when out fishing I can't keep the nose of the boat
down. It doesn't matter if the gas tank and all my
equipment are in the front or not. It really makes
for a bad experience.

Does anyone have an idea for a portable,
water-protected weighting system I can use for the
front of the boat, something that won't scratch
up/dent the bottom of the boat? Or some other device
that would remedy the problem?

Obviously, this is only an issue when I'm fishing
alone. But that's at least 50% of the time. And no,
making more fishing friends isn't a good answer.

Thanks for the help!
