Welding is always a plus, but not the easiest. You can use any marine caulking that stays flexible and for under water to the new rivets if you install new ones. You can fix the cracks by cleaning them real good with sand paper. Then you can use JB WELD underwater, as it has been a great product for me. It is some time hard to find but it is out their and does a good job. Denis
