Hello Andrew, my guess, and it is a educated guess only, would be that the 70 has a larger bore carb and a different exhaust housing, and probably different porting in the cylinders. You can probably gain 7-10hp with the bigger carbs, but the rest of it would be difficult. Have you tried different pitch props? My thought is to get a bigger motor. I have a grizzly 1848 that has a max hp rating of 40. Hell 50 wouldnt hardly plane it with 2 guys 1 dog and all our stuff. I sold the 50 for 500.00 bought a boat, motor, trailer, with a 100 evinrude, for 700.00.
