I am rebuilding a '56 Lonestar Cruisemaster. I have a 120 hp Mercruiser I/O to replace the 90 hp '64 evenrude outboard. I am not restoring to original condition and think the I/O would improve the lines of the boat by removing the bulky transom extension and outboard. I have reduced the boat to a bare aluminum hull prior to rebuilding. The original tramsom board was 1" thick and rotten to the core so it has to be replaced anyway. Anyone ever transformed an outboard to an inboard? If so how, any suggestions, how thick should I make transom board now, important tips to remember, ect.?
