This is a very complicated changeover. While the transom must be strong enough to support the outdrive, much of the forward thrust will be placed on the motor mounts. These must be strong enough and the stringer/crossmember structure must be sized and located correctly. It's essential that the motor be mounted at the proper distance from the transom and at the proper angle so the drive shaft aligns properly and the lower unit is positioned correctly in relationship to the hull.
