Reinstalling wiring in a boat

I'm having to do the rewiring in my 16' aluminum boat. Some of it was rusted and there was loose wire going nowhere. Is there an internet site or someone have knowledge that can explain the cautions for grounding, guages and proper steps for wiring? I've got a bilge pump, 2 lights on both ends and a depthfinder. Steering console had two switches one for the bilge pump and the other for the lights. 40lb Troller motor hooks straight into battery and 40hp Mercury straight into it's battery. Any help appreciated.
