I have a 17' Grumman I bought used in 1984, so the new shine has worn off, and the protective oxidation has occurred. The canoe was near the house when I was painting my house with white latex paint. Guess what.....the spills I managed to get on the canoe are there to stay!! I've never had it near salt water, but am considering that. Because of (1) Protection for the metal, and (2) to be more visible to fast moving boats; I have decided to paint it a bright color, at least above the water line. I may go with "sea-green" or something similar below. They say deer are color blind; are fish? Seems I always get more hits on yellow jigs, rather than white, so they must be able to see colors. Just guessing, I don't really know. Anyone know why high quality SG or Gloss exterior latex paint wouldn't work well? Anyone else use their Grumman in salt water? Thanks for your help. Pat
