Glide Strips

I have a 14.5' Gregor aluminum boat. I am considering putting plastic glide strips (sold in Cabelas, Bass Pro, etc.) on the carpeted trailer bunks so I don't have to submerge the wheel bearing when launching in salt water. Any experience with a similar boat with glide strips would be appreciated.
