Center consoles look cool, but on smaller boats (especially 16' and under V-Hulls) tend to waste valuable space. You don't see anyone offering this set-up on a smaller V-hull. If a console is offered, it is a side-console. Lund offers a side console for its SSV line of boats that is a simple aluminum unit that mounts to the middle bench. You could have someone fab up something similar to mount on the side and leave your livewell hatch accessible as long as the console isn't too wide. This arrangement lends to better balance than going forward of the middle bench. IF you are rigging for fishing, stick with the tiller and spend the money on electronics or other upgrades that don't waste space. If you like to troll and hold your rod,you just can't beat a tiller. Plus you don't have all the cables to deal with and maintain.
