motor height is my problem, but need some expert advice.[Aluminum Boat and Repair Board ] [F A Q ] Posted byAndrewT (128.157.3.92) on April 03, 2002 at 20:05:33: My cav plate is level with the bottom of my 18 ft alum flat bottom. I have a tunnel, now I assume the cav plate should be level with the top of the tunnel, it is off by bout 6 inches. So that is why water comes over the back of my boat. I can either close the tunnel (free or very cheap) or raise the motor. Raising the motor wouldn't cost much. I think filling the tunnel would make my boat much faster. The tunnel is a bad home made job. I never plan on being in less than 1.5 ft of h2o, so the tunnel isn't necessary and I'd probably gain speed by filling it. What do you all think?
