Texas Freshwater Redfish

I took a cousin from Illinois out to Lake Braunig, in San Antonio last week to "show off" some Texas fishing (5/12 and 5/13). First day I caught 3 redfish, biggest being 34 inches, 17 1/2 lbs, on shrimp! Next day we caught 3 reds (keepers 24 inch avg) and a whole lot of catfish, again on shrimp, except 2 that were caught on a shad and a crawler. Most of the time the bait that catches the freshwater reds is live crawfish. Needless to say, that dont seem to be the only thing they bite on down here.
