Most likely you are losing one cylinder.Could be as simple as cleaning and adjusting the points.
set at .020.Most likely your oil sheen is waste fuel which is plentiful on these old timers and of
course worse if you are losing one cylinder.
Aftermarket manuals are available on eBay,iboats.com,amazon.com and the library among other sources.

but you will need deep pockets.
