If the bulb is collapsing there is a restriction between the tank and bulb.Could be a blocked tank vent or plugged filter on the dip tube.Not as likely but if the connector is not properly seated
it might cause those symtoms.All these problems are an easy fix but be careful of fumes work out side if possible and remember fumes are heavy snd
treacherous.
