Even if the key were sheared, but still managed to turn the flywheel, it'd spark, just at the wrong time. Have you checked the continuity of the plug wires? New plugs? Checked the coil ground? A sudden loss of spark usually indicates that a wire has either lost a good ground where needed, or gone to ground when it wasn't supposed to be. Your plug wire isn't chaffed by the flywheel is it?
