"I second that"

I don't

Running @ 24 to 1 provides greater assurance of
avoiding corrosion during storage.

The primary reason that OMC backed-off the 100 to
1 recomendations of the mid '80s was due to
corrosion concerns, NOT lubrication concerns.

Running @ 24 to one does not hurt performance; on
the contrary, most engine manufacturers have recommneded
increasing the oil/gas ratio while racing or
for "severe service."

24 to 1 also gives you a little "leeway" if you
screw-up and mix wrong (i.e. under estimate how
much gas is already in the tank when adding more.

And by using Walmart oil (which is what I use)
at 24 to 1, it will still be cheaper than
useing OEM oil @ 50 to 1.

How precise is your measuring?

Skimping on the oil might save a few bucks; not skinping
on the oil may save your engine if you store it
in damp conditions of neglect to properly
"winterize" the powerhead or if your gas/oil
mixxing is a bit "haphazard."

I have been running my '57 18 @ 16- or 20 to 1
on a heavy boat that is stored outside year-round.

I would never run it @ 50 to 1.
