Identification Yamaha 25 early 90'

I inherited a 25 Hp. Yamaha from my Uncle. Due to corrosion the identification plate on the bracket is fully unreadable.I think the building year must be in the earley to mid-nineties because I compared the engine cover with other Yamaha engine covers.
Now here's my question: Is there another place on the engine where I can find the engine's fabrication and model number.
I need these numbers for registration.
