Honda Motors[ Ol' Paw's Boat Motor Bulletin Board ] [ Ol' Paw's Fishing Page ] Posted by Cliff (65.33.112.76) on January 01, 2004 at 15:31:09: This past summer I purchased 2 new Honda 4 stroke motors, a 200, and a 225. Both were received in late June, and about 1 week after receiving them they began leaking oil like a Corvair. I contacted Honda and they have refused to repair them. However I did receive a service bulletin stating that they forgot to apply a thread sealing compound on a sending unit on the engine and it only takes a certified tech 7-8 hours to fix. They suggested that I just keep pouring oil into them (and the river) so I don't burn them up. So far I estimate that they have only leaked a few gallons of oil into the enviroment. Don't buy a Honda if you care about the enviroment. Don't buy a Honda if you want good engine service.(or any service) I have called the main center in Atlanta and they haven't got any control over service in Alaska. It seems that Honda marine has gotten too big to care about the people that pay extra for quality. Buy a Yamaha. |
