Novice install coil in 1956 Johnson 15 hp mod: FD-10

I have just finished putting all new seals & o-rings in the lower unit on this boat.

Also, carb kit and head gasket.

It runs, but only on one cylinder.

A friend has advised me that installing a new coil or points may not be the best idea, as I have never done it before, and he hasn't either, mainly because he was afraid of doing something real bad to the motor or himself.

I have a Clymer repair manual for this motor, but find little in the way of instructions on how to install these things.

Am I in over my head on this? and is there danger of injury if I screw it up?
