Hi Spike: You responded to my earlier post. I got the motor for free and it had been sitting for probably 20 or 30 years and didn't seem to have any vacuum in the intake when pull starting. Anyway, the engine looked nice inside, no rust anywhere. I don't have a manual but i have a fully equipped shop. Where is the water pump? does it pump even when the engine is in neutral? Should oil form on the surface of the water after the engine has run a while? Is the water pump hard to access and is there any common parts that should be changed after prolonged storage? The carb seems to be working perfectly, the engine will idle down and rev freely. You identified this engine as a 1951 Gale after I supplied the serial numbers. Thanks for all your help. Mike
