9.5 hp evinrude tiller problem

The screw that holds the tiller arm together on my 9.5 evinrude outboard came loose causing the inside assembly to come apart. I'm having a hard time with reassembly; mainly in getting the notches in the tiller pawl to align properly with the speed control linkage. Is there a solution that doesn't require taking it to a dealer?
