MG Lazer II 43es trolling motor problem

The feature on this motor (1996? model) that automatically shuts it off and sends it to the stowed position is staying engaged. If I do get it to work occasionally it will just shut off and park at any time. I'm wondering how this feature is controlled-some kind of switch that closes at a certain angle? If so, where is it? Not having much luck finding any online info on this motor. Thanks, Hutch
