9.9 Johnson Surges[ Ol' Paw's Boat Motor Bulletin Board ] [ Ol' Paw's Fishing Page ] Posted by 'Trapper' (205.174.22.25) on February 04, 2004 at 10:49:55:
Well, I fixed it. If anyone is still following this thread from below I'll post up what I did. Took it to a dealer to leaver the darn thing and an old time mechanic told me it would be 3-4 weeks before they could even look at it. Then he told me to take it home, turn the high speed carb adjustments in to the stop, then open it back to as near as I could get it to where I started or about 3/4 turn and adjust from there. Tried it, no help. So on to step two: try opening the air mixture screw on the left side of air intake as you look at the motor from the front. Ran it til warm, pulled the cowl and opened her up. After about a quarter turn out the little Johnson smoothed out and planed off the john boat nicely, probably as well as it has ever run! I couldn't believe it. Just guess who is going to get my boat work from now on? |
