I have 3 avet's that I use and are very pleased. Not to say the higher priced reels aren't better. Like the new Shimano Torsa ($700.00). But for $700. vs $200. the avet is a great reel. I have a Torsa 20 and it is by far the best reel I have ever used. I have Accurate, Pro-gear, Penn Internationals, Shimano Trindads, and others and not any of them compare to the new Torsas.
I would visit the avet site (www.avetreels.com)and compare the MX models with 9 lbs drag at strike, and the LX models with 15 lbs drag at strike both in 2 speed models and 1 speed models with upto 8 to 1 ratio. Remember as the ratio goes up (8to1) the ability to reel in a larger fish is almost impossible.
