The following e-mail was sent to me from Big Mike. It is a report from his fishing trip in which I advised him on how to catch catfish. I hope he does not care for me posting it, if it helps others. The reports are currently at: http://members.aol.com/swaters1/reelfootreports.html

Dear sir,
You were right on target with the catfish. We caught a lot of 5 to 7lbers.
We tried the jug routine and trot lines as well we caught a few. We would
have caught alot more however if we didn't have so much help running them.
We watched our lines and jugs being run every night about eleven thirty.
The culprits were local because the were zipping around the lake like they
knew it. I had the boat that could have chased them down if it weren't for
the stumps. No fish was worth loosing a lower unit for. i am not
complaining that can happen anywhere unfortunately they weren't as careful
when they put the trot line back and tangled everything. they just cut the
lines rather than unhook the fish. I think they did pretty good because the
cut a lot of hooks off.
We did on one day on rod and reel catch about two hundred pounds of
catfish. We were staying at little stoney's resort and they took a picture
of the fish because we had to use their wheel barrow to take them from the
dock. We could not have put two ore fish in that wheelbarrow. That's good
fishing anywhere. I will pass on one tip we had the following baits and
tried all them when we caught fish only one bait worked. We tried shrimp,
smelt, shad (cut & Guts),Bowkers, G&S, Cattreacker, Hogwild and Sonny's dip
bait. The only thing that we caught fish on was Sonny's Dip Bait. the
fish we caught were all caught in the shallows and wee all full of eggs
getting ready to spawn. The biggest we caught was eleven pounds. We
caught all the fish around the island directly across from little stoneys.
Jerry the resort owner can tell you if you are interested in the
description of the two fellows that were helping us with our trotlines as
he also saw them and agreed that they wee local
Thanks Again,.
Big Mike
